I'm living in the lap of luxury.
I'm enjoying the life of Riley.
I'm emailing my entire buddy list,
And I'm sending 'em a smiley.
You know that guy - you see on TV,
The one that's as happy as happy can be
He's bought into drugged society.
Well, you could say that I'm sold - "Be all you can be".
Yes, I am that guy - you see on TV.
Like a rock, I am driven.
Bob Seger sang so.
What a crock I am thinkin'.
That song touched my soul.
I thought it had meaning much deeper than sell.
Could it be I was wrong .. .. could be .. .. .. oh well.
You know that guy - you see on TV,
The one that's buying, enjoying all that he sees,
The latest, the greatest, the best DVDs.
Well, you could say that I'm sold - "Yellow ribbons on trees".
Yes, I am that guy - you see on TV.
Living large and laughing easy,
It's much too easy - being sleazy (and sometimes cheesy)
But I've got to please me.
Purple? or Yellow? - I hope my doc will see me.
I thought life was deeper, much deeper than swell.
Could it be I was wrong .. .. could be .. .. .. oh well.
You know that gal - you see on TV,
She can't stop smiling, hair coiffed to a T.
She knows the importance of perfection you see.
Well, you could say that I'm sold - "Buy One / Get One Free".
Yes, I am that gal - you see on TV.
One by one, we will taste it, and know that it's good.
And in turn we will buy it just like we should.
Fat free, no salt, and for all generations -
Improving our minds and all our relations -
I had hoped our lives were much more than "do tell".
Could it be I was wrong .. .. could be .. .. .. oh well.
You know those folks - the ones you see on TV,
Whose problems are solved by being P.C. -
Whose cares disappear while ingesting, you see
Well, you could say that we're sold - "What's in it for me?".
We are those folks - that we see on TV.
Decisions are made - some based on sound bites?
Decision - derision - division - is that right?
Could it be that TV provides no Guiding Light?
That truth is hidden in the dark of the night?
Please know there's much more than answering a bell.

Songs are deeper, much deeper than sell.
Life is deeper, much deeper than swell.
Life is more, a lot more than "do tell".
I'm sure that our lives are much more than "buy / sell".
