The Popcorn Judge
Poetry By Will Dugan (Originally published under the Pen Name of Blind Melon Ugly Dude)

Well, the Popcorn Judge took the 5th and won't budge.
Why, we trusted him with money, but he spread a lot of fudge.
Do you think he'll hold a grudge?
Do you think he'll take a nudge?
Towards the truth that he's sworn to?
I don't think so.
His honor's full of smudge.

Honor is just a word and nothing more to a crook.
Matters not he wore a robe and he swore upon the Book.
Dispensing justice from on high,
Greed gleaming in his eye,
Did he think he wore a crown
while he robbed our little town?
Yes, he must have -
Please give back what you took.

Remorse is what he should have,
Self-concern is what he's full of.

He made a deal without fairness, justice to preempt.
Not consulting with his conscience, he holds us in contempt.

A man of knowledge?
A man of morals?
Well, you'd think that he would know -
Some values are quite certain -
You reap just what you sow.
But the Popcorn Judge took the 5th and won't budge.
His honor's full of smudge.
His honor's full of smudge.
